Na een reis door de architectuur, theatervormgeving en beeldende kunst ben ik terecht gekomen in de wereld van het glas. Een boeiende materie die me de mogelijkheid biedt om mijn beeldtaal uit te breiden. Glas heeft een grote sculpturale en architecturale kwaliteit die me fascineert. Door een opleiding te volgen in het IKA Mechelen wil ik door de techniek van het glasblazen mijn artistieke reis verder zetten. In het begin maakte ik vooral architecturale constructies, installaties met glas en elastiekjes. Naar mate ik het glasblazen meer beheerste, groeide het idee om een theatrale performance te maken met geblazen glazen objecten. Nu focus ik mij vooral op het glasblazen zelf en experimenteer met mijn eigen techniek in combinatie met traditionele technieken. Het proces van de transformatie van vormeloos, vloeibaar, heet glas tracht ik weer te geven door abstract organische glazen vormen in te sluiten in een sfeer. Het resultaat zijn unieke gestolde illusies die het mysterie en de verwondering van het materiaal weerspiegelen.
After a journey through architecture, theater design and visual art, I ended up in the world of glass. A fascinating subject that offers me the opportunity to expand my visual language. Glass has a great sculptural and architectural quality that fascinates me. By following a course at IKA Mechelen, I want to continue my artistic journey through the technique of blowing glass. In the beginning I mainly made architectural constructions, installations with glass and rubber bands. The more I mastered the glass blowing, the idea grew to create a theatrical performance with blown glass objects. Now I mainly focus on the glass blowing itself and experiment with my own technique in combination with traditional techniques. I try to depict the process of the transformation from formless, liquid, hot glass by making abstract organic glass shapes that are surounded by a sphere. The result is unique congealed illusions that reflect the mystery and wonders of glass.
